Its early in the bowl season but Pac10's collective performance so far has this blogger wondering if betting on the Buckeyes isn't a wise investment in tomorrow's Rose Bowl.

First, Oregon State is slaughtered by a non-BCS conference team (BYU). Then, Cal is beaten by another (Utah). UCLA, granted - an 8th place team - but still, struggled mightily before rallying in the 4th to beat a historically inept MAC team (Temple). The most pathetic performance was Arizona, demoralized and dominated 33-0 against Nebraska. Finally, Stanford gets upset by Oklahoma today. USC, as ever, is the pride of the conference. The Trjoans had an unremarkable win over a mediocre Boston College team.

This is an embarrassment, especially considering that the Pac10 plays down in almost every Bowl game (thanks to lackluster fan support Pac10 schools aren't attractive to most Bowls and so get left to 2nd tier bowls and inferior opponent matchups.) The Pac10 has one bowl game left to salvage a bit of pride. Are the Ducks up to the task?

Although the Big10 has only played one game so far (Wisconsin upsetting Miami), I'm thinking the evidence speaks to the Pac10 being a weak conference this year.

But can a Michigan fan stomach betting on the Buckeyes?

The Pistons are 4-9 when Ben Gordon plays more than 30 minutes and 6-3 in games where he plays less (or not at all.)

Joe Dumars is so desperate to cast his commitment to mediocrity in the same light as his early 2000's rebuild that he's actually convinced his coach to start the same players! Ben Wallace and Chucky Atkins, the key acquisitions from the Grant Hill trade, and the foundations of the "Going To Work" Pistons, are once again starters on the 2009-10 Pistons. What are Jon Barry and Jerome Williams up to? I know Jerry Stackhouse is available. Maybe he'll join the team next season to keep the show ongoing. But I've got a better idea than signing Stack. How about...

FIRE JOE DUMARS!

:(

It's a sad day for Greg Oden, the Blazers, and Blazer fans.

Moving forward, the Blazers need to manage and build their franchise with the assumption that Oden is unavailable. Whenever he plays, you consider it a bonus, but this team must have multiple alternatives if it wants to be a championship contender.

Especially with Outlaw hurt, this team needs to find a big man for the immediate future. As much as I like Juwan Howard, his best skill at this phase of his career is cheerleading. Finding one for the long term would be wise as well.

Its too bad that Millsap signing didn't work out afterall...

Check the right tackle.

I haven't figured out how to tie this into

FIRE JOE DUMARS

yet.
